Today I will lay yet another friend to rest. I have had several close friends taken too soon due to their struggles with addiction. There is no pain I have ever witnessed like that of a parent burying their child. DO NOT let this become your story if you are struggling, DO NOT leave your loved ones in shambles, DO NOT tell me it is too hard to quit, DO NOT. The wake of destruction that has rolled through my life so many times with the tragic news that another friend is gone, that another dad, husband, son etc. will no longer fill their roles in their families lives has left a wound so deep it cannot be healed. The pain you are feeling is passed on ten fold to those that love you, that would do anything for you. IT IS NOT WORTH.

All of this to say, I get it… I know life is difficult and the warm hug from a glass of liquor, the pull from a cigarette after a stressful day or for some a needle, a pill or worse is required to quiet the world for just a moment. The only problem is when you wake up the problems are still there or they have multiplied. And God forbid you do not wake up, the pain you’ve been feeling isn’t gone but transferred to all who care for you.

If you are struggling do not do so in silence, talk to those that you are convincing yourself wouldn’t understand, you might be shocked. Love is so much more powerful than the judgment we all fear so much. Allow yourself some grace, lean on friends and loved ones and find a reason to give your story a different ending. YOU DESERVE A DIFFERENT ENDING.

RIP JOHNNY
